You can protect bees by creating habitats, avoiding pesticides, and supporting organizations that help bees.

ree

Create habitats

Plant bee-friendly flowers: Grow nectar-rich flowers, shrubs, and trees

Plant wildflowers: Wildflowers provide food, shelter, and rest for bees

Build bee hotels: Provide safe places for bees to nest and raise their young

Leave patches of land to grow wild: Allow wildflowers to grow and provide nesting and feeding sites

Avoid pesticides

Avoid using pesticides: Pesticides are toxic to bees, even at low doses

Buy organic: Choose organic food to avoid pesticides that can harm pollinators

Communicate with beekeepers: Give beekeepers as much lead time as possible before applying pesticides

Support organizations

Support organizations that have bee habitat and pollinator gardens

Adopt a hive: Sponsor or "adopt" a beehive to help protect honeybees and native bees

Other ways to help

Cut your grass less often: Remove cuttings to let plants flower

Avoid disturbing or destroying nesting or hibernating insects
